Cara Rosaen

There is nothing more grounding to me than kids and mud, so I try to spend most of my time with one of them. I live with husband, Karl, and two sons: Raleigh (6) and Gus (2) in Ann Arbor, Michigan. My life has guided me through many incarnations, as an entrepreneur (RealTimeFarms.com), a jewelry artist (Sweet Plum Vintage), a graduate student in Marital and Family Therapy, and now studio potter and stay at home mom. Through all of these chapters, I’ve had to learn to listen to my deepest voice and follow it through it’s messy and wandering path to a place of deeper peace.

When I'm at the wheel, I have to be in the moment. It's a simple, beautiful practice I feel lucky to do. My soul calls for the earth. It says, care for the kids and play in the mud….so, I do.

Artist Statement

Each piece is handcrafted and unique. I revere shapes that imitate natural forms. I am most excited taking a piece from a perfect cylinder to an object that looks like life has shaken it into a thing of beauty, strength, and wild grit. I try to make pieces that are perfectly imperfect.

"Blessed are the cracked, for they shall let in the light."
